GODZILLA #2-24 (1977-1979)

Alright, I’m going to do a lot of grouping for my Godzilla reviews because the stories are fairly similar from issue to issue, and they’re really not worth reading unless you’re super into Godzilla.  They’re not bad, they’re just not that good.

So here’s the highlights of this title: A gimme joke where “He’s Standing Right Behind You!” featuring Robbie Robertson and J. Jonah Jameson (above), and an introduction to the character Red Ronin…

…and Dr. Demonicus (who will later be part of the proper Marvel universe) …
Godzilla.  And there were a few issues where ‘Zilla fought The Champions…

There were also appearances by Thor…

and The Fantastic Four…

…and Iron Man. It was fun to see them all bump up against Godzilla.  And Trimpe did a good job with the art.

And it gave Dum Dum Dugan a regular gig.

And let’s be real: This was intended for a very young audience.  I normally wouldn’t say that it was in continuity, but there were so many Marvel characters appearing in it, and also it was referenced in a few other non-Godzilla books.

Creators: Doug Moench and Herb Trimpe
