Captain Marvel #39 (1975): The Trial of the Watcher

Watcher is on trial for interfering with Captain Marvel last issue, and what we get as readers is a retrospective of most of the important (and several unimportant) Uatu appearances thus far.  If you’re a fan of the character, this is seriously a must-read issue.

Otherwise, it’s just kinda blah.  I mean, they go through this whole trial but in the end Uatu just says he’s sorry and the council tells him not to let it happen again.

For this, Watcher was ready to kill himself last issue.

Very underwhelming.

Note: There will be many more “trials” for Marvel heroes in the future, but I’m pretty sure this was the first.

Also, this issue has the first appearance of Aron the Watcher.

He intervenes on Captain Mar-Vell’s behalf.  But later he’ll be a renegade watcher.
