Australian Julia Jacklin has joined a band with an annoyingly weird name but a very nice sound. Phantastic Ferniture is a band and an album full of simple, straightforward, high-quality indie pop.
There’s not a ton of information about the band or the record on the internet, maybe because there’s some hidden bias against Aussies, but it’s really, really good–ready for radio music that you should be singing along to by the second or third listen.
Or maybe it’s because one of the lead singles has a title that’s clearly not ready for radio. “Fuckin and Rollin.” But does radio even matter these days?
