I know the 1970s were rife with people calling Spidey a menace, but I really liked this little sequence where one person might have had his mind changed. These kind of “real” moments are sorely lacking in modern comics, where every scene is about stopping the entire planet from being destroyed by [threat of the month]. But early Marvel understood that having heroes interact with normal people was part of the charm of the genre. After all, what would Superman be without: “Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane…”
