First appearance of The Gibbon, billed on the cover as “one of the new superstars of the Marvel universe.” He’s just a guy in a suit, so Spider-Man laughs in his face when he says he wants to partner up. Kinda rude, Spidey. It drives Gibbon in the arms of Kraven the Hunter, who trains The Gibbon to be capable of standing up to Spider-Man.
So all it takes is one montage to get good enough to take on Spider-Man? No. Spidey beats him quickly, although Gibbon does land one single punch.
