Over the past decade there has been a noticeable trend for comics to be a lifeline for Hollywood’s flagging movie industry. And whilst Marvel Comics have provided some heavy-hitters in the form of the The Avengers and Iron Man series, their rivals DC Comics have some contenders lined up that threaten to tip the balance.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
In what will be the first time that these two iconic superheroes have appeared the same film, the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice promises to be one of the biggest films ever.
Although the film won’t be released until March next year, there have already been many interesting rumours about this highly anticipated movie. Most notably, the stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will be starring as the caped crusader and man of steel respectively.
And there’s also the interesting inclusion of Wonder Woman in the film who will be played by the Fast and Furious star Gal Gadot. Such a heavyweight combination of comic book heroes will be assembled with the hope of granting Warner Bros a surefire box office hit.
The characters have already featured in a variety of successful comic books, films and television shows. And as one of the largest comic characters on the planet, Batman has even appeared in a slot game at Europalace. Alongside a range of popular games based on Hollywood films, Europalace offers a range of slot games that feature a variety of themes and aesthetics that cater to just about every conceivable niche audience. It’s a wise move, as the vast success of the DC Comics franchise will mean that fans will be seeking to see their heroes in a variety of formats. And it’ll surely be only a matter of time before we see a Suicide Squad game hitting the online casino domain.
Also due for release in 2016 is the very intriguing prospect of the first ever Suicide Squad film. Based on the DC Comics team of anti-heroes, the movie promises to provide something a little different from the usual comic book adaptations.
Already the casting looks interesting, with the likes of Will Smith, Jared Leto and Cara Delevigne signed up to play members of the elite group. Directed by David Ayer, who recently found success with the WWII film Fury, the film aims to show a more humanised side of the superheroes who have to perform a secret mission in exchange for clemency for their previous wrongdoings.
And with further Wonder Woman, Justice League and Aquaman movies in the pipeline, it looks like DC Comics fans are in for some great cinematic treats in the next few years.
