Today I’m starting a tribute to my favorite Batverse comic, which was written by two of my favorite comic book writers: Greg Rucka and Ed Brubaker.

The book is cited as the inspiration for the current “Gotham” TV show, as well as Christopher Nolan’s first film in the Batman trilogy.  And although you can see the influences, it’s really just Homicide: Life on the Streets in the world of Batman.

The book is nothing short of brilliant, and reading my posts on it will spoil the shit out of it so you should go read it now.  Read along with me, and see if you agree that I picked the best panels!

The first arc features Mr. Freeze.  Two police officers are filling a routine knock-and-announce warrant but the Bat-villain is behind the door, sheer coincidence and terrible luck.  Because that’s the kind of thing that happens when you’re a regular cop in a world of superheroes and villains.

I hope you like this series–drop me a comment and let me know.
