WALT SIMONSON’S DOCTOR FATE!

I’ve pointed out the genius of Walt Simonson many times, particularly as to his lettering and sound effects.  But when I ran across this early piece of work from 1976, I was astounded at how early he’d shown that the use of sound effects could actually help tell the story, not just serve as emphasis.  That they could be part of the art, not an explanation for the action.  Check these out:
