DAREDEVIL #82-83 (1972-1973)

Finally!  Some good Daredevil comics!  And it starts with Scorpion fighting Black Widow.  During the battle, Widow knocks Scorpion off a rooftop and “kills” him, which leads to her being charged with murder by District Attorney Foggy Nelson.  And guess who represents Natasha?

We get some courtroom scenes, and some unfortunately odd behavior by Franklin.  He becomes an anti-superhero, anti-Russian fanatic–similar to J. Jonah Jameson.  Anyway, Foggy loses and Black Widow is set free–but she decides that the U.S. is too bigoted for her, and goes back to Russia.

Still, the budding Widow/Daredevil romance has begun.

Also, Matt builds himself a new billy club/cane.

Creators: Gerry Conway and Gene Colan (#80) and Barry Smith (#81).
Grade: C+
