QUIET SIGNS by JESSICA PRATT

Quiet Signs is…Quiet. But that doesn’t make it simple. There are so many things I love about this record. Check out the song Fare Thee Well, for example. Pratt’s voice is so weird and distinctive–like a softer, white version of Macy Gray. And it’s mostly just her and a strummed acoustic guitar, accented here and there by other sounds that feel hard to place. Piano, for sure. Some kind of electronic tone.

Beautiful, dreamy folk.

This album isn’t going to rock out for you. It has moments that gain speed, but on the whole this is just a beautiful voice and a gentle guitar. And that’s enough.
