X-Factor #12 (1987)

Following up after the Mutant Massacre event, we see Angel upset that his wings are going to be amputated; lots of Morlocks living with X-Factor at the mansion; and Scott and Jean wrestling with contacting their respective families (Scott’s wife Maddie has disappeared and Jean’s sister is making TV appearances in support of mutants, but doesn’t know that Jean Grey is back from the dead).

Other than that, this is a fairly straightforward story in which Boom Boom is upset with Vanisher, who she is currently running with, so she reports him to X-Factor.  Frivolity ensues, and in the end the team convinces the young Boom Boom to return with them to Xavier’s school.

I like Boom Boom and am not very familiar with her history, so this is a good read for me.

There’s also a cut scene to Apocalypse identifying his third mutant Horseman of the Apocalypse, Famine.  Slow build to his big arc.
