IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT by STILL CORNERS and YOU SAID STRANGE by SALVATION PRAYER


When the title track of “In the Middle of the Night” began, I thought I was listening to a Pink Floyd cover band. Musically and tonally, the song sounds like an update of Breathe, from the seminal album Dark Side of the Moon. But no. This is an all-original work by London synth-poppers Still Corners, a collection of smooth, neatly executed hipsways.

On a similar note, but with more edge, Salvation Prayer draws its inspiration from bands like Oasis (I’m assuming), and is more like a lighter version of heavy psych (if that makes sense), but I also found the droning guitars to be meditative and trancelike.
