Marvel Two-In-One #60 (1980): The Impossible Man!

I don’t think I’ve ever read a bad Impossible Man appearance, and I know I’ve never seen a badly drawn comic by George Perez, so … Winning!

Impossible Man is lonely, so he stows away as The Thing’s top hat at an opening of Alicia Masters’ sculpture exhibit.  And of course, if Impy is riding Thing’s skull, has to fuck with him…

Alicia’s daddy the Puppet Master shows up, the sculptures come to life, and we get some fun.  But it turns out, the villains are three dudes who can put their minds into inanimate matter and bring it to life, not Puppet Master.  Nice twist.

Also, Raph Macchio, George Perez, and Mark Gruenwald show up.

Then, in the end, Impossible Man decides to reproduce, which apparently Poppuppians do simply by willing it to happen.  So, he makes his own girlfriend who looks exactly like him.

Wouldn’t it be great to read one of Grant Morrison’s deep, postmodern takes on this event?  We need a Morrison Impossible Man series. Seriously.

Creators: Mark Gruenwald and Ralph Macchio (writers), George Perez (penciler)
