PAT BENATAR COVERS A to Z

A is for “All Fired Up,” which is not actually a Pat Benetar song.  It was first recorded–and written–by the Rattling Sabres, ten years before Benetar recorded it.  It was her last top 40 single.

B is for best shot, as in “Hit Me With Your…”  Pat’s second single and one of her biggest songs of all time.  For the cover, let’s go with Blowfly’s incredibly crude satire.  It’s like a punk version of 2 Live Crew.

C is for “Cougar.”  Pat covered John Cougar’s “I Need a Lover.” Her version is better, but here’s his…

D is for Jenny Darren, who wrote and recorded Pat Benetar’s monster hit “Heartbreaker” years before Pat got ahold of it.

D is also for “Don’t Let It Show,” an Alan Parsons song Pat covered.

E is for “Evening,” the song by Cab Calloway that Pat covered later on her 1991 album, “True Love.”

F is for Fire and Ice, which had a pretty neat cover by the band Rasputina, followed by a jazzier version.
