Any book with Firelord is automatically at least a B- in my book. That’s an unofficial rule. And since #232 starts with him on the splash page, we’re off to a good start.
He comes across a giant ice cube in the Pacific Northwest, and discovers that it is a door. He passes through, and meets Loki for the first time. Strangely, Loki basically forces Firelord to be his herald, and go tell Thor that Loki will be returning soon for revenge. Even stranger, rather than do that, Firelord attacks Thor by shooting fire at him while he is sitting peacefully. Then, after Thor engages and is winning the battle, Firelord says he came in peace.
It’s almost like Gerry wasn’t reading the very script he was writing.
Then Loki imprisons all the world’s heroes in bubbles, except Thor, and prepares to invade Earth. The only resources at his disposal are mortal armies, so Thor takes them to battle the invading Asgardians, but obviously they are outmatched. Eventually, Firelord breaks out of his bubble (with the help of Iron Man)…
…And they team up and Thor boxes Loki’s ears.
