Years before Swamp Thing and Man-Thing, there was Glob. He lives in a swamp in Florida that is full of government toxic waste. So he’s basically Man-Thing. He fights Hulk.
And in fact, he returns in Giant-Size Man-Thing #1.
Before that, he returns in Hulk #129.
