First of all, WTF Dej Loaf?? I love you, really, but you can’t seem to put your best bars on your own material. After an obligatory, tossed-off intro, Dej Loaf explodes on “We Got This Shit,” and puts every other rapper on this album to shame.
Mod Sun hails from Minnesota of all places, and though he’s basically a rapper, he’s one of those newfangled ones–the kind that are as much soul singers and creators of atmosphere as they are actually rhymesayers. That’s not to say “Movie” isn’t a solid rap album. It is. And additional guest shots by D.R.A.M. and Rich the Kid are also welcome.
But nobody can touch Dej Loaf on this record.
