GREATEST OF ALL TUNES: Peace Frog by The Doors (1970)

THE GREATEST OF ALL TUNES (G.O.A.T.) is a salute to the greatest songs of all time, one song per artist. Want more? Go to the G.O.A.T. Page for all the GOATs so far!
I am not a big fan of The Doors.  Five to One, Light My Fire, and Strange Days leave me cold.  But Peace Frog always kickstarts my adrenaline and gets me shaking my booty.  It’s a simple song—one chord in the chorus—but the violent, street riot imagery is tremendous: “Blood on the streets/It’s up to my ankles…”  I love it.

Further listening: Despite their long list of hits, there are only a few Doors tunes I would say qualify as GOATs.  LA woman, The End, and Riders on the Storm.

Covers: A few. And what may be my favorite mash up of all time. But let’s start with Cinematrix, the solo band of Robby Krieger (of The Doors)…
