EDISON-The Dead Canary Sessions (EP)

There’s a lot of good stuff for free on Bandcamp, but there’s not a lot of great stuff there.  The kind of music that makes you drop what you’re doing and listen close.  The kind of songs that feel professional–like their creators have been at this for a while and know their way around a chorus and harmony.

Edison is such a band.

And on top of all that, they’re the first band I’ve heard cover the Counting Crows’ Raining in Baltimore.  Now, I like Adam Duritz but he can be pretty whiney, and RiB is one of his most miserable songs.  But at the hands of Edison….Wow.  It’s better than the original.

Yes, that’s right.  Better.

Check it out.
