In 2005, Marvel rebooted Iron Man. The book’s sales were slipping, and Warren Ellis agreed to write an updated origin story. It became the basis for much of the 2008 film that turned this B-list character into the most famous Marvel character in the world.
The series plays a little fast and loose with continuity. Tony Stark is shopping the idea of the Iron Man around, and he doesn’t appear to have ever met the Avengers yet, but it takes place during the Iraq war.
Anyway, it’s good. Damn good. Probably the best Iron Man comic of all time.
