PUNISHER VOL. 2 #1-6 (1987)


Mike Baron set the high water mark for Punisher for the next decade-and-a-half (or so).  Having Klaus Janson doing his best to channel Frank Miller didn’t hurt, combined with muscular scripts and tight, focused plotting.


After the first six issues, Janson left and Baron stayed on to turn Pun into a bit of an international hero–he went on missions to Bolivia, the Middle East, etc., and kind of became a Nick Fury/James Bond type.  But the central elements of the character were cemented during the first six issues: Heavy voiceovers, zero introspection, zero character growth, 100% ruthless.
