I’m baaaaaaaaack.

First, I want to thank the many label, PR, fans, and friends who contacted me after my last blog was shut down. If you’ve found this, you know I’m back. But it ain’t gonna be like it used to be. You’ll notice, first, that at the top of my blogroll is the wonderful RIAA RADAR site. If you’ve not been there, you oughtta go and donate. This is what else is different:

1. I will no longer post out of compulsion. I will post only when I have something to share with you. For example, my complete disappointment with the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album. Where the fuck is the music?? It’s full of weird, convulsive lack-of-harmony and lyrics that are so fragmented I can’t understand any of it. I know it’s the trademark of indie rock to be obscure, but, personally, I think this is a little on the ridiculous side.

I mean, do any of these:

Love Song No. 7

Underwater (You and Me)

Compare to this:

Lost and Found?

2. I will not post anything by RIAA members. This means I won’t get ratings like I used to, but I really don’t care about that anymore. If I don’t get thousands of hits a day, I really don’t care. I’m doing this for me now. Just me. Not the swag. Not the recognition. Not the free shirts and free concert tickets. That said, you can still submit to me, as always, and if I like what I hear, I’ll post it.

3. Last but not least, this is the real reason I’m back: Drunk Country and Saturna. Two great bands that I discovered through my last blog, quickly learned to love, and who have stayed in touch. DC specifically asked if they could be in the inaugural post for this blog, even before I had decided definitely to relaunch. I don’t wanna sound corny or lame, but it touched me that these bands reached out even after my blog was gone and there was nothing I could do for them.

Thanks, guys.

Okay, that’s it for today. Tell your friends I’m back, bitches! I’ll start building up the blogroll as time permits. Send me request for links, etc. Especially if you’re an indie label or a true indie blogger.
